Brassica balances the charm and accessibility of a beloved neighborhood joint with the culinary execution, creative dishes and flavors of a fine dining restaurant. Their signature is their fried chicken which I think is among the best in the city. Their dinner menu is excellent and skews to a more refined, small plates experience (the koji risotto is among the most comforting, umami-packed dishes I have come across in my years of Boston eating). That said, I particularly love their brunch which includes all the classics with creative twists, like the pretzel honey biscuit, brunch fried rice, and chicken and waffles with maple umeboshi. The space is casual and cozy. Service has been a little shaky on a few of our visits over the years but, overall, this remains a local gem that I continue to come back to year after year!

I came here tonight for the first time and was not disappointed! Every dish we got was delicious. Some standouts were the beet salad, pork belly, and egg noodles. Our server was soo friendly. They really made our meal special. Ambiance was nice too, felt very cozy.

Always amazing food and service with such a cool neighborhood vibe. I love the moody ambiance and yummy food.

We're glad we finally visited! We shared the fingerling potatoes, and separately got the Biscuits and Gravy and the Brown Butter Pancakes. The pancakes were buttery and sweet, and the salty butter on top with lemon zest made them over the top delicious. The bearnaise on the fingerling potatoes was lemony as well, which added a sharpness that went really well with the smashed potatoes. The biscuits and gravy were also pretty good, and the gravy was nicely herbed. The fried chicken that came on top was a bit tough and overcooked, which was disappointing, but didn't add to the dish; i'd probably get the fried tofu instead next time. Service was really nice and speedy, and the restaurant itself was lively and fun. The donuts were also delicious, easily beating Union Square Donuts in my book; we got the chocolate sprinkle and apricot caramel. We'll definitely be back for more donuts, and hopefully more meals!

Have been for both brunch and dinner (photos from brunch here) and probably my favorite restaurant in Boston. Incredible service and all the food I've had here has been unique and delicious. Go to Franklin Zoo or Harvard Arboretum after!

Cozy restaurant right next to the Forest Hills T stop. Warm and welcoming as you walk in the door. It's a very progressive restaurant looking to be kind to everyone. Flavor of all items was very unique. Portions were on the smaller end as my wife and I had 5 dishes and we were not stuffed but adequate for dinner.

The BEST chicken and waffles of my life. These chicken and waffles had such a delicious flavor in both the chicken and waffle and the balance was perfect in the chicken to waffle ratio in each bite. It was also paired so well with their syrup, which they gave enough of so we didn't have to ask for more which I really appreciate! The server was also so funny and personable. Still dreaming about this and would totally go back again.

Who needs to go to Spain for fancy 5 plus star restaurants when they can come to Brassica???? The food and cocktails were amazing!! I sorta knew the tuna was delicious (and it was) and that the beet salad was a must have - the beets were marinated in something but not sure what? - because they were flavor bombs :)) The biggest surprise was the flan - beyond delicious - save room!! It was magnificent. Josh was our waiter and his attention was pluperfect and Anna as the general manager couldn't have been more gracious. A winning night all round.

Small plates: beets - 4/5 subtle flavor, nice textures with the crunchy topping and creamy sauce dry aged beef marmalade - 4/5 cracker that comes with it a bit too crunchy and thin duck breast over charcoal - 4.1/5 nice breadth of flavor from savory to sweet fluke ceviche - 3.8/5 very spicy, maybe too spicy dessert: frank's flan - 3/5 standard flan, nothing special drinks: meguro #1 - 3.2/5 dead ramones - 3.3/5 Nice place for dinner dates or eating with friends and family. Small, lively space. There isn't much seating for larger groups from what I could tell. I enjoyed this place for its small sharable plates and the creativity that goes into each plate for unique flavor combinations. Having said that, there wasn't anything that really stood out to me this time around. Service was great. Very polite staff that was helpful in providing details on dishes. They were out of quite a few items when I went for a later dinner, but the staff kindly communicated these details to us. Parking can be a bit tricky. There are a few street parking spots just outside the restaurant. Outside of that, you may have to walk a bit further to find a spot.
